When you hear the name of certain apps in conversation you normally know what they are and how they work. Snapchat to send 10 second pictures, Instagram to show your evening meal and Tinder to hook up. The last one has tried to change what people think of them but it may backfire, badly.
Tinder is popular with many singletons all over the world and is more often or not used to find a quick, casual hook up with someone in the local area. The app which has previously focused just on one-to-one communication has launched themselves into the ‘social scene’, or have at least tried.
The company behind Tinder has introduced a feature called ‘Tinder Social’ which allows groups of friends to discover each other and make the necessary arrangements to meet up on a date.
Gaining access to the feature requires you to first of all do an update and then opt in. To invite other members to use the feature then they must also be opted in to Tinder Social.
Will this new feature help them get rid of the bad reputation of just being a hook up app and
help them into the social market with the big boys of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram? Or perhaps it will now get the reputation of encouraging group hook ups?
Only time will tell.
